About me…

Susie Smallridge

L’atelier Enchanté is a small business owned by me, Susie Smallridge. I live in a little hamlet in Rural France, where I have a beautiful room at the back of our home which is very much my happy place. I live here with my husband Mark, our dog Moriarty and two cats, Sherlock and Ignatius, after seven and a half years living here the french language still eludes me, but I will continue to persevere, and endeavour to one day be able to sit on a park bench and have a conversation with a french person in their language.

My sewing projects are created from repurposed fabric such as old duvet covers, curtains, clothes or anything that was making its way to landfill. I source all my fabric from charity shops, friends, family or local ‘free to a good home’ sites. So, you can safely say you have a one of a kind piece to give as a present or to buy for yourself, no two items are ever the same.

Sewing is something I have taught myself since moving here, it is my therapy and somewhere I can use the creative elements of my brain, I rarely use patterns I see something and think I can create something like this, it may not always turn out as planned but the process is very cathartic, and I do believe if at first you don’t succeed try again and again in most cases.

I hope you enjoy browsing my website, and maybe even purchasing an item from me.
